Describe the response, not just “it won’t work”
- No response to the wall control, remote or keypad.
- A motor sound without normal door movement.
- Intermittent operation or a door that starts and then stops.
- Reversing, flashing lights or a closing problem.
- A new grinding, rattling or drive/rail noise.
Tell us which control you used and what happened. Those details help narrow the inspection, but a sound or flashing light alone does not establish a diagnosis.
Opener, motor and the door it moves
The motor is one part of the opener, along with its drive, controls and safety features. A problem described as a “bad motor” may involve another component or resistance in the door itself.
Springs, balance, rollers, tracks and related hardware affect how easily the door travels. An opener should not be used to compensate for a damaged lifting system. Spring service or door repair may be needed instead of, or alongside, opener work.
Controls and closing safety
Repair or replace the opener?
Inspection considers the controls, safety devices, drive system and door operation. Chain, belt or rail noise needs its source identified; it does not automatically establish motor failure. We can discuss repair and replacement based on the findings and compatibility.
Replacement is also a chance to discuss compatible WiFi opener upgrades. No brand authorization or universal compatibility is implied. If the door mainly needs ongoing care, explore tune-ups and maintenance.
Before you call
Share your location, whether the door is open or closed and whether the controls behave differently. A model number or photo is helpful only if it is visible safely from the ground. Do not climb or repeatedly run a struggling opener for a demonstration.
Our door-won’t-open guide explains safe observations. A service visit can then assess the cause, discuss work and check operation and safety features after the agreed repair.
Opener and motor questions
Are garage door motor repair and opener repair the same service?
People often use motor to describe the entire opener. GarageCraft assesses the opener and its controls as well as the door it moves; the motor is only one possible source of a fault.
Why does the motor run without moving the door normally?
The drive connection or the door system may be involved. Stop repeated attempts and arrange inspection rather than assuming the motor needs replacement or trying to reconnect a damaged door.
Can you help with a remote or keypad?
Yes. Remote and keypad issues are part of our opener service. Describe which controls respond; do not send access codes through the contact helper.
Why does my door reverse or refuse to close?
Safety sensors, an obstruction or a movement problem may be involved. The exact cause depends on the system. Do not bypass sensors or force the door closed.
Will a new opener fix a heavy or uneven door?
Not by itself. The spring, balance or other door problem needs assessment. An opener is not a substitute for a correctly functioning door system.
Can I keep my existing opener or upgrade to WiFi?
Repair may be appropriate depending on condition. Compatible WiFi replacement options are available; we assess the door, opener requirements and your priorities before recommending a change.
